AFIDOP – MONITORING PROJECT 2026
April 2026

Following the positive results achieved in previous editions, AFIDOP renews its commitment to the protection and promotion of dairy denominations with a new edition of the Monitoring Project 2026.

The initiative represents the natural evolution of the path launched in 2023 with the pilot project and consolidated in 2025 with its extension to the entire membership. For 2026 as well, AFIDOP confirms its approach based on the digital monitoring of online restaurant menus, with the aim of strengthening transparency and promoting the correct use of PDO and PGI denominations.

The monitoring will once again be entrusted to the technical partner GriffeShield, which will analyze content published online, particularly on TripAdvisor, websites, and social media, examining the top 100 results for each Italian province. This year, the project will once again involve all AFIDOP members.

The research is expected to be completed by December 2026, with the following objectives:

• to update the overview of the use of PDO and PGI cheese denominations in Italian restaurant digital menus;

• to verify the level of application of the AFIDOP-FIPE Guidelines by sector operators;

• to identify any improper uses or misleading evocations;

• to provide Consortia with concrete operational tools (reports, links, and alerts) to support surveillance and communication activities.

The project aims to produce an updated and in-depth analysis of the use of PDO and PGI denominations in online menus, enabling the identification of any critical issues and areas for improvement for each Geographical Indication involved.

The results will be published on the official AFIDOP website (www.afidop.com) and made available to companies in the sector.
